The wines of our Arcole winery
Desmontà is a small village in the middle of the Arcole area and its name stands for “dismounted” (“desmontà” in the Veronese dialect). History says that Napoleon, who fought the battle of Arcole in 1796, fascinated by the view of this beautiful countryside, got off his famous white horse to enjoy and admire this unique landscape.
The Arcole area is triangular in shape, it is located in the south-eastern part of the province of Verona and in the south-western area of the province of Vicenza. The territory, which includes an area of about 300 km², is uniformly flat in the south-western part, according to the typical characteristics of an alluvial plain.
In this area we find lowland soils, considered suitable for vines and therefore of a predominantly "sandy clayey" nature, while others are hilly soils, therefore consisting of soils of a very varied nature, from the strongly clayey red type to the calcareous white one, and there are soils very rich in skeleton.
The Arcole DOC area has a relatively homogeneous continental-type climate, with very hot and sultry summers and rigid and foggy winters and these particularities allow the production of wines such as Merlot, Pinot and many others.
